Alot of us these days are having problems with their eyes or are having shortsightedness problems, and the majority of those people, and to me as well, its all due to starring at a monitor/tv 8 hours a day, problems like short sighted vision or nearsighted and myopia have grown in the last years. A relative of mine had a short sighted -0.75 vision or what's called nearsighted/myopia, and the following exercises helped him improve his shortsighted problem and improved his eye sight using the same exercises i am about to show you.
As we all know, it is important to keep our bodies in shape by doing certain exercises like jogging, swimming, going to the gym, etc... 
But did you know that you can exercise your eyes as well? making them more accurate and not having a short sighted problems. These eye exercises will definitely keep your eyes as healthy as possible and minimize eyestrain or short vision problems.
Note that these exercises are meant to maintain your eyesight level as it is now, but regular exercising will help them improve slightly, These exercises they will not improve your eyesight immediately, but they will definitely prevent you from any future vision problems or vision deterioration.

Before we start, here are somethings You'll need to do the exercises :


  1. Pencil
  2. Water
  3. Eye drops (your eyes may become dry)
  4. 15 minutes of your time

The Steps : 

1:  Sit on a chair in a comfortable position. Start rubbing your hands together until you start feeling them getting warmer. Close your eyes and after that cover them gently with your palms and making sure that no light rays are entering your eyes, note that your nose should not be covered by your palms. Now Imagine your self in a deep blackness and focus on it. Take a deep breath slowly and evenly while thinking of a happy event you went through, or visualize a scene that is distant. After you can see nothing but blackness only, then remove your palms out of your eyes. Repeat the process for 3 minutes or more.

2 :  Close your eyes tightly for a 3 to 5 seconds. And open them again for 3 to 5 seconds. Repeat the process for 7 or 8 times.

3:  Hot and Cold Compress : Get your hand on 2 clean towels, and soak the first one in hot water, and the second one in a cold water. Take the warm towel and press it to your face gently focusing on the eyebrows, your closed eyelids, and cheeks, change to the cold one and repeat the process, make sure you end with the cold towel
Full face massage, Take the hot soaked towel and rub your neck, cheeks, and forehead with that towel, avoiding your eyes, after that use your fingertips to massage your forehead and closed eyes gently.
Eyelid massage : Close your eyes and get them massaged with circular movements from your fingers for like a 2 to 3 minutes. Be sure to press very gently and made sure you washed your hand to avoid damaging them.

4:  Press three fingers of each of your hands against your upper eyelids very gently, and hold them there for 1 to 2 seconds, then release. Repeat the process 5 times at least.

5:  Sit and relax. Start rolling your eyes clockwise motion, then after that counter-clockwise. Repeat the process 5 times, while blinking in between each time.

6:  Focus on distant objects (over 160 feet or 60m away from you) for like 10 to 15 seconds. Then after that, refocus your eyes slowly on an object near you (less than 40 feet or 20m away from you) without moving your head at all. Repeat again for 10 to 15 seconds, and go back to the that distant object. Do this at least 5 times.
Try sitting about 6 inches (15 cm) from a window. Make a mark on the glass (ideally a small red or black sticker) at eye-level. Look through this mark and focus on something far away, then adjust your focus to the mark.

7:  Hold an object (pencil preferably)in front of your eyes (Make sure the pencil is between your eyes or laying at your nose in a short sight range) at arm's length. Start moving your arm away from your nose slowly. Follow the object with your eyes continuously until you can't keep it in focus. Repeat the process 10 times.

8:  Look in front of you(or at the wall) and pretend that you are writing something on the wall with your eyes. Don't move your head at all. This may seem very difficult at first try, but with a bit of practice and patience it is really fun. The bigger the letters are , the better the effect will be.

9:  Practice rhythmic movements.
Do some bar Swings: Make sure to stand in front of a barred window, or a fence, or something with even spaced vertical lines. Focus smoothly on the distant object on the other side of the bars. Relax your body and try to transfer your weight from one foot to another. Make sure to keep your breathing steady and relaxed. Blink if needed while performing this exercise. Continue doing it for 2 to 3 minutes.
Round Swings: Try to focus on an object in your eyesight that is close to the ground. Do the same as instructed for Bar Swings. Keeping your gaze on the same object, and use your peripheral vision to see what's surrounding you as you sway. Continue doing it for 2 to 3 minutes.
Head Movements: Close one eye(start with right eye). Slowly form a 8 figure with your head. Repeat this for the other eye. Continue doing it for 2 to 3 minutes.

10:  Now imagine that you are standing in front of a very large clock. Take a look at the middle of that clock. Then look at any chosen hour mark, without turning your head sideways. Then look back at the center of that clock. Then again look at another hour mark of that clock. Do this process at least 12 times a day. You can do this exercise with your eyes closed if you feel like.

11:  Focus on an object in a large distance (it must be as far as possible and not in a shortsighted range) with a  very low contrasting background. Do this for 3 to 5 minutes every half hour or 40 minutes.

12:  Move your eyes up and down, starting from the top and going down. Do this process for 8 times. Then the side to side eye movements after, starting from left to the right. Repeat the process for 8 times at least. Make sure not to force your eyes away than they want to go in any particular direction, or you might risk making your vision even worse.

13:  Always finish up the exercises with either palming your eyes or another eye relaxation technique.
